Tim Green delivers a compelling, heartfelt story through the eyes of one brave young man, determined to be a winner on-and-off the field. A dramatic, emotional story of a young man who had a dream as he lived in foster homes, while enduring a troubled childhood. This engaging story portrays what it takes to be a winner, even when the battle may be against all odds. One dream comes true for the star- running-back on a football team as he fights a dark storm that follows his path. After being diagnosed with cancer, he learns what it takes to be brave with incredible determination. The story not only tugs at the heart, but it draws the reader's attention immediately as we follow the footsteps of a young hero. It makes you smile, and also brings tears to your eyes as you cheer on for one brave boy, who fights and never gives-up. Inspiring, touching, and Highly Recommended to all young readers, and all those who enjoy inspirational stories!

Harrison, a young boy endures a life that would break the spirit of many people, but that is not his way. Harrison grew up with a mother who had an addiction to alcohol. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon thing, but the severity in Harrison’s situation is too great to handle. The severity of Harrison’s mother’s alcoholism made her unfit for care for and raise Harrison any longer. This causes Harrison to move in with a foster family. Harrison had went through multiple foster homes until he was step up with the Constable family. A farming family who used their children as laborers around the farm. As if the hard work on the farm was not enough, Mr. Constable was an abusive man. Harrison could handle the hard work on the farm, but would only take the abuse for so long. There was one time when Mr. Constable hit Harrison in the eye with a belt, which caused permanent damage to look of Harrison’s eye. This event caused Harrison to then kill Mr. Constable with a pitchfork, which was later determined to be “accidental”. It was time for Harrison to move on again, but this time things would be different. The social worker assigned to Harrison had a daughter and son-in-law looking to adopt. Harrison’s new foster father was a middle school football coach. Harrison has always longed to play football, but was unable due to outside circumstances. Harrison’s size and built up aggression made him quite a successful football player. Not everyone was a fan of Harrison’s new found passion for football. A couple of boys for his new school, Leo Howard and Adam Varnett, made fun of Harrison because he was adopted and his severely damaged eye. Harrison would make a best friend, Becky Smart, who stood up for him. Harrison continued to grow and play football, he was the starting running back, a position many players strived to play. One day at practice, Harrison took a hit to the knee that would cause him some pain, and cause Harrison to need to get his knee examined by a doctor. The doctor examined Harrison’s knee, and discovered that he has bone cancer in this knee. To prevent the spread of the bone cancer, Harrison’s leg was to amputated above the knee. This was a huge shot to Harrison’s football future. This caused Harrison to feel down. His foster father saw this and called up an old friend, Major Bauer. Major is instrumental in Harrison’s return to football. Major trained Harrison to become functioning and operational with this prosthetic leg. Though Harrison’s return to football only involved him playing on special teams, he was still joyed because his return proved that he was unstoppable. This reminded me of a recent story in college football. James Conner, the starting running back at the University of Pittsburg, was sidelined with a season ending knee injury a year ago. After an MRI was conducted to see the damage in his knee, it was discovered that he had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. James Conner, like Harrison was in for a much larger battle. James went through treatments and after an intense offseason, he returned to play for the University of Pittsburgh this year and has been a featured player in their offense.I read this book because I saw it had to do with the sport of football, and I believed its message would be transferable to other sports and all corners of athletics. It is an inspiration story of a young boy who wants to do something he is passionate about regardless of the obstacles he faces.

Unstoppable is a book about Harrison, an orphan who has been to many foster homes and usually got treated badly at all of them. When his previous foster father beat him with a belt buckle, he struck back. With a pitchfork. This lands him in a juvenile detention center, until a new foster family adopts him. He decides to play football on his new father's team and turns out to be the best running back they've had. The book had a pretty good plot line, but there were many details that were kind of glossed over. For example, you only heard about 3 or 4 names on the whole football team. There could've been more scenes about the tension between him and the football team because he was new and just took their job as starting running back. Overall this book had a great story, and I would recommend it to 5th graders and up.

The book, Unstoppable by Time Green is about a Pennsylvania kid who had a rough childhood. Harrison Johnson is the main character; a thirteen year old boy who is nicknamed "Mud". Harrison has always been big for his age, which came with its advantages and disadvantages. Harrison was in and out of different foster homes throughout his childhood. He never knew his father. His Mother, Melinda Johnson, was a drug addict who showed up late to a court hearing, so Harrison was forced to stay at a foster home in which the foster parents, the Constable's, were abusive and cruel. Their foster home was on a farm, which meant there was constant work that needed to be done. By demand of Mr. Constable, Harrison was constantly doing chores and missing out on doing the thing he loved most: playing football. He was in love with football; most of the time while living with the Constable's, he was unable to even watch it on television. Although there were other kids who lived on the farm, like Lump, Crab, Flossy, and Dora, Mr. Constable was the hardest on Harrison. He would sometimes beat him very hard with his belt if Harrison misbehaved or lied. Since Harrison was a bigger kid, he sometimes felt that he could fight back when Mr. Constable was punishing him. For instance, Harrison once accidentally stabbed him in the leg with a pitchfork to defend himself from getting a beating. Mr. Constable trembled from the stabbing and fell over the ledge in the barn, hitting his head. He would end up dying from the significant blow to head, adding to the mess of Harrison's life. Even though Harrison was then abusively punished by Mrs. Constable, he had the chance to move to a different foster home. His mother ended up dying, so he had no choice but to live with more strangers. His next foster family was much better; he lived with the Kelly family. Ron Kelly (goes by Coach) was a middle school English teacher and football coach, and his wife, Jennifer Kelly, was a lawyer. They were much more sweet, and supportive of Harrison. They treated him well, helped him with school, and took him fishing. Not only was Harrison being treated better, he was also finally able to live out his dream and play football for his new school since Mr. Kelly became the new coach. However, he had to promise to stay out of trouble if he was to be on the team. Since Harrison was new to football, he initially struggled to learn the basics. But since he was big for his age, he naturally thrived at the game. He was referred to as "Unstoppable" because he was a huge force as a running back on the field. He became acclimated to his new school and did made friends like Justin, with whom he had a job with, and Becky Smart. However, he still faced some hardships; some students, especially one named Leo Howard, bullied Harrison every chance that he got. Leo's Father was a lawyer, so Harrison was worried that he would attempt to get Harrison in trouble for Mr. Constable's death and ultimately not allow him to play football anymore. Harrison faced more trouble when he refused to sit down in class if the Math teacher did not address him by his actual name. He was sent to the principal's office but the discipline ended there. Although Harrison did not play in the team's first game, he dominated in practice and other games. A huge turning point in the story was when Harrison became injured while playing football. At first, they believe it is just a knee injury, but further diagnosis reveals that he actually had bone cancer. He is told that he has to have part of his leg removed, which terrifies Harrison. Going through chemotherapy and depression, Harrison is not sure if he will ever again play the sport he loves. His family, friends, and school show him great support. Mr. Kelly attempts to inspire Harrison by letting him meet his friend, Major Bauer, who had a leg removed from war. Ultimately, Harrison fights through the odds and makes it back on the football field by playing special teams, showing great strength and will. He proves to everyone around him that anything is possible and to never give up on your dream, no matter the odds.

I was happy with this purchase. I bought it as a gift for my boyfriend. He loves redheads, so I thought this would be a fun gag gift for him. I only gave it four stars though, because most of the photographs were dated. It would have been nice to have a magazine with more up-to-date photos in it.

Thought this was going to be a coffee table sized book. As it is, the book is roughly statement sized (8.5 x 5.5) and far too short. Still, if you're a fan of vintage photos in the Playboy vein (think So Cal interiors and shag carpets) you'll like hit book. Plus.....redheads.

Cover price of 16.95 and manufactured in Hong Kong the book features about 100 pages of red heads from 1954 to 1973. Each photograph features the model's name and the year it was taken. 1950's-20 pictures, 1960's-33 pictures, 1970's-8 photos. It is at about page 80 before we see a full body shot, and that one the model is wearing a see-through outfit. Not until page 90 do we get a full look-see. Pretty. No piercings or tats. Some wear garish lipstick. Quotes scattered throughout that range from Mark Twain to Lucille Ball to Jane Fonda to Anne of Green Gables. In some photos items are carefully place or legs held a certain way to not show everything. Tan lines reveal what is usually not revealed. Significant areola, bosom and cleavage. Can be viewed repeatedly at mulitple settings. One three page fold-out, pretty.

Bought this for a friend of mine who is a bit of a pervert and huge fan of redheaded women. He gave the book two thumbs up and a huge grin, while he looked at the history of vixens.

Very nice classic Playboy Redheads Hardcover Book, inside the pages are Playboy women from 1950's,1960's and 1970's.The quality of book is of best material.

Enjoyed ! ;)

As a straight woman, this isn't a book I would normally buy. However, as a redhead and a collector of books about redheads, I had to have it. Such a wierdly fun addition to my collection! Most of the photographs have a retro pin-up girl quality. A great gift for redheads and redhead lovers alike.

Is what they said. I, however had a thought it was a more current project.

Ever since Birger Gerhardson's book on the oral tradition more and more scholars have investigated the influence of halakha on Second Tmeple Judaism and early Christianity.Tomson, in this heavily researched book, comes to definite conclusions. Paul gave "priority to Apostolic tradition. This tradition has an important halakhic segment which is prominent in First Corinthians and significantly contains Dominical halakha, i.e., halakha taught by Jesus" (p 265). Paul also relies upon general Jewish tradition and much Hillellite tradition.Paul also appears to have been influenced by "Persian-influenced apocalyptic and Greek-inspired humanism. Nonetheless these influences seem to have been fully assimilated into the Pharisaic-Rabbinic tradition and there is no reason not to call the respective elements 'Jewish'" (p 267).The most important influence by Greek Hellenism Tomson finds in Paul is in "his epistolary style and rhetoric, and especially the elements from popular Cynico-Stoic tradition such as exempla in metaphors, the central concept of the 'body'"...These elements do not make him any more 'Hellenistic' than most other Jews" (p 267).Philo and Josephus were, famously, heavily influenced by Hellenism. But, importantly, neither of them reveal any alteration of basic Jewish religious belief.Second Temple Jews were perfectly comfortable adapting various Hellenistic elements into their culture. But only so far as to never allow any Hellenistic ideas to creep into their religious beliefs or practices. And never, never to alter their fierce monotheism. For example, Philo showed nothing but utter contempt to mystery religions and all forms of idolatry, even though he was eager to use whatever he could from Greek philosophy, so long as it did not touch on Jewish monotheism and oral traditions.Tomson agrees with Alon that "while Philo's indebtedness to to Hellenistic thought is undisputed, he was much closer to Palestinian halakha in its ancient form" (p 39).A majority of scholars now agree that Paul depended for his beliefs on Apostolic tradition. For example, in First Corinthians, Paul refers to traditions that stem from Apostolic,, Jewish Christianity. "To summarize, in First Corinthians...Jewish-Christian traditions are explicitly used, four of them deriving from Jesus; and the conception of the church parallels Jewish covenantal nominism" (p 73).

While my review isn't comprehensive I did find it fascinating how Tomson addresses Paul's Justification Theology as it relates to his Jewish Halakha. This section alone is worth the entire price of the book. One of the points he makes is that in two (1 Cor 10:25,29 and Rom 14:14) of the very places where we'd expect to find Paul's traditional rejection of Jewish dietary law with a follow-up sounding something similar to, "for I am justified not by works but by faith", he does not. Tomson urges us to consider this, "Paul wrote no such things, and this should be taken utterly serious. When writing those verses of practical instruction which are traditionally taken to prove his disregard for the Jewish Law, Paul did not apply the ideas typical of his justification theology." It is critical to understand Paul the former Pharisee and the way in which the Jewish mind worked, not in a systematic way, but as Tomson informs us, Paul addresses his "gentile churches with a midrashic way of thinking. In fact the very concept of 'justfication by faith' offers us an outstanding example of this way of thinking, even though it has since become typical of the 'systematic' misunderstanding of Paul." Tomson offers several examples of how this thinking works. Understanding how the 1st Century Jewish mind worked and wrestled with scripture will open up brand new avenues of exegesis. If we are to understand Paul's writings, we must read them on their own terms; within 1st Century Second Temple period Judaism and not that of the 16th century Reformation period. When we do this, we have a much better chance of hearing and understanding Paul and for that matter Jesus.

My fiance has a thyroid problem. She is in the process of reading this book right now and is saying how it has such a wealth of information that she can use to help her. Awesome book and indispensable for people with thyroid problems. Thanks for reading my honest unbiased review. I hope it was helpful to you...if I can be of any more assistance, please don't hesitate to ask questions in the comments below. I for one always read the reviews of products before purchasing and I rely on those reviews to help.....therefore, my reviews are always 100% honest. Although I got this product for free or for a discount, I do not and will not allow that to impact my review. The company that provided the product did not compensate me in any way for my review and I have nothing to gain for positive reviews. I review products on how I feel about them and how they perform the described task.

Thyroid Diet by Jason Scotts is a fact-packed book about the inner workings of the endocrine gland system. I have had a thyroid condition for many years, but I learned some new things about how the hormones produced by the thyroid gland and other glands interact with each other. Also, all these hormones are affected by things like stress, diet, and genetics. The thyroid controls the metabolism of foods to produce energy. If it does not function as intended, weight gain and fatigue can occur and these are the first symptoms often noticed, as well as cold hands and feet and thinning of hair and nails. Moreover, if a thyroid condition is undetected or untreated, it can lead to diseases like Type II Diabetes, heart disease, goiter, or even thyroid cancer, as well as obesity. The thyroid can become overactive (hyper) or underactive (hypo) and both are dangerous. Thyroid cancer is often referred to as “the easy cancer to cure,” but in reality it can be fatal just like any cancer, so it is nothing to trifle with.Jason Scotts initially began researching to help the members of his family with thyroid issues. He is a strong proponent of another book, The Thyroid Solution Diet, by another author, and hints at tips, strategies, and recipes from that book. Many natural methods can be used to help the thyroid, but if the metabolism cannot be regulated with foods and supplements a person must get medical attention for their thyroid gland. This is a good informational book but I would like to see it go into more detail and provide more information.I received a free copy of this book in exchange for this review.

In this short book you will find useful information about Thyroid’s function, how it affects body weight, a recommended diet to support Thyroid functions and a Detox diet to improve metabolism efficiency and rate.A Thyroid needs to be balance as it may malfunction either underactive thyroid (Hypothyroidism) or overactive thyroid (Hyperthyroidism). When hypothyroidism isn't treated, signs and symptoms can gradually become more severe. Constant stimulation of your thyroid gland to release more hormones may lead to an enlarged thyroid (goiter). In addition, you may become more forgetful, your thought processes may slow, or you may feel depressed. Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) is a condition in which your thyroid gland produces too much of the hormone thyroxine. Hyperthyroidism can accelerate your body's metabolism significantly, causing sudden weight loss, a rapid or irregular heartbeat, sweating, and nervousness or irritability. Stress affects thyroid function; either emotional stress or physical stress may affect thyroid function if one is continuously under stressful conditions. Diabetes can also harm the thyroid gland and its functions.Thyroid hormone regulates metabolism in both animals and humans. Metabolism is determined by measuring the amount of oxygen used by the body over a specific amount of time. If the measurement is made at rest, it is known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR). Low thyroid hormone levels were associated with low BMRs and high thyroid hormone levels were associated with BMRs.A low carb diet, low glycemic meals and a detox diet are great solutions to help Thyroid to keep a regulated activity. According to the author, the most suitable diet to begin with is the Detox diet. Regular exercise along with a healthy intake will help anyone to keep the Thyroid regulated. This is an excellent book with a good approach that will give you basic grounds on the subject as one step to take you to deeper research and experiences.

My mom has a hypothyroid issue and has been trying to use homeopathic treatments instead of taking synthesized thyroid medication. When I saw this book, I thought it might be super helpful for her to help improve her diet. While this book is very informative, from describing the biology of the body and what the thyroid does, to the different thyroid problems. In the end I found it to be very basic in helping people actually detox or fix their diet. There were a few example recipes and a few suggested foods, but honestly I feel like I don't have a lot of new information to offer my mother. This book is great if you haven't done any reading or research on the topic. A great starter book to begin figuring out where to go and what small changes to make. However, I found that once you are beyond that stage it didn't offer much new information. Overall, a good read, easy to follow and informative. While I received this product at a discount, all opinions in this review remain my own.

I feel like any kind of summary or review is not going to do full justice to this story, but here's my attempt. (Or just skip reading this and go use this time to go find yourself a copy and read it yourself. You'll be glad you did.)Jessica is a runner. She lives to feel the wind in her face and the thrill of crossing the finish line. So losing a foot in an accident feels like the end of the world. In fact, she sometimes wishes she could trade places with the girl who died in the accident and possibly had it easier. But in the midst of despair and grief, Jessica's family and best friend Kayley will NOT give up on her or let her wallow in grief. Once Jessica gets out of the hospital, Kayley practically drags her out of the house and back to high school, even though Jessica is scared of how people will look at her now. But being different turns out a great way to find out who really cares about the real her, like her track team that gives her an unexpected dose of hope by deciding to try and raise $20,000 for a special running leg so Jessica can someday live that running dream she has every night. And there's also Rosa, a math whiz and super wise friend who happens to have cerebral palsy, and who ashamedly, Jessica had always totally ignored before the accident. Beyond learning some important things about herself, Jessica realizes that people like Rosa and herself want to be known and loved for who they are, not for their conditions, and she decides to use the platform her accident has given her to raise awareness of this in her town.I read a lot, like about 5 books a week. And I have to say this is the best fiction book I've read all year. I had to flip to the back of the book to make sure this wasn't inspired by a true story. It reads like one. Jessica's roller coaster ride of emotions throughout the book feels so incredibly realistic for a teen facing such a situation. And the way her parents, sister, and various friends react feels very authentic as well. Van Draanen obviously did her homework. I think the power of the story is not just that Jessica overcomes her hardships with the help of an awesome community, but she uses what she learns and has been blessed with to bless others. As wonderful as her story is, when Rosa enters the picture, it goes to a whole new level of wonderful. I can't believe this hasn't been made into a movie because people would eat it up. Oh, and for those of you who cry during Hallmark movies or Hallmark card commercials, be warned you will probably need a jumbo sized box of tissues to go with this book. I managed to squeak by without using any, but only just, and I NEVER cry watching movies or reading books. I guess it goes without saying that it was very touching.Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content beyond a kiss. No violence. The accident and Jessica's injury are not described in any gory details. Jessica does have a very brief struggle with dependence on pain meds during her recovery but her family intervenes before she becomes seriously addicted.

Jessica loves to run. She runs competitively for her school, and she runs because she loves it. When the bus that the track team is on is hit by a truck, a girl is killed and Jessica, well, Jessica loses a leg. Having a limb amputated is unbelievably hard for anyone to deal with, but when your life is running it's even worse. Jessica has to deal with caring for her stump and learning how to use a prosthesis, with stares and comments, and with losing the ability to be who she is—a runner. The track coach decides that he and the team are going to raise money for Jessica to get a running prosthesis—a cyborg looking piece of curved metal that people have—people who don't just run on them but who can now compete against the best in the world. This book is absolutely wonderful. The characters of Jessica and her best friend are extremely well done, and very realistic teenage girls. The descriptions of Jessica's experiences with her stump and learning to take care of herself, learning to walk and to deal with the stares are excellent.Heartwarming and simply a winner!

My son's school put this on the required summer reading list. He hates reading, so he was not looking forward to having to read this book. We just went on vacation, and he actually chose to pack this book because he was enjoying it so much. The kid has never willingly packed a book before, so this was amazing! I'm one happy mama;)

Read this book, whether you like to run or not. I feel like after reading this book i have a new way of looking at things. I love it when books can do that....take you on a journey and changes how you look or think about things. My middle school daughter also read this and enjoyed it but thought the first part was a bit sad. If your child reads this be on hand to talk with them about life and death. This book does not delve into the sad death part and moves on to the main characters story pretty quickly so keep reading.

The Running Dream is about a runner named Jessica who loses her leg and goes through months of recovery. While she is recovering, she makes new friends and starts to discover new things about herself, such as why she runs and how to accept her friends' differences. Her friends help her persevere by encouraging her, and teach her about relationships.I thought this book was interesting because it shows about something most people don't experience: losing a leg. My favorite part was when Jessica starts to run again and finally meets her dream. After the accident, she always dreams of running, so I felt proud for her when she made her dream come true.Readers will enjoy this book because they can relate to it and make connections with their own lives. It is good for middle school and up, due to the age and maturity of the characters, who are in high school. If you are a runner or an amputee, or just about anybody, you will like this book!

I liked this book because it was very inspiring and showed a life into someone who lost a leg and how they deal with it.i would recommend this book to someone who likes reading of motivational books. I gave the book this rating because it was so fluid and understandable and made u really think about what was going on.The theme/themes of this book tells you to 1.Be thankful of what u have not what u don't have 2.Get to know someone first before you want to base them off their deficiencies.

This is a great read. It teaches perseverance over adversity and how to truly have grit. Great read for any age. My 11 year old read it and loved it so I read it too.Spoiler alert:It's about a young girl that loses part of her leg during an accident. She runs track for her school. This follows the story of how she copes and struggles with her loss.
